Huntsman endorses National Defense Authorization Act

In a CBS Boston interview (WBZ Newsradio), Presidential candidate Jon Huntsman endorsed the National Defense Authorization Act, the Patriot Act on steroids. “I would have signed it,” said Huntsman, but “in practice” he would work to ensure Due Process.

When asked if he would close Guantanamo Bay, Huntsman said he would deal with it as quickly as possible, but added “You need a holding facility somewhere,” and, “I’d find one somewhere else.”

A younger-sounding caller asked Huntsman what he believed was the biggest problem with the Republican Party. The former Utah governor identified the “isolationist streak” among the Republican Party. Huntsman said he would be against withdrawing military, trade, or “values” — whatever the devil that means — from our present, international stance, in order to continue to “make the world a better place.”
