Gay blogger condemns Ron Paul

leave a comment »

Bridgette P. LaVictoire, owner and Managing Editor of Lez Get Real (, an LBGT news blog, issued an article accusing Ron Paul of wanting to “deny AIDS patients coverage,” in the headline while admitting further in the article that Paul, “would not require that the law deny AIDS patients health coverage,”  (emphasis added). Her article was released on January 2nd, only two days before the Iowa Caucuses.

It is blatant inconsistencies and misleading headlines like these that are reminiscent of the Spin-Doctors at Fox News.

To add insult to injury, being a gay site, Lez Get Real has gone out of their way to attack Ron Paul in multiple articles, while Paul is the only Republican candidate who has been clear that he would not attempt to stop gay marriage through federal legislation or Constitutional amendment.

Lez Get Real has chosen to cut off any future comments to be posted to their “AIDS Patients” attack article. Comments that were posted give evidence that the comments were heavily edited, deleting many comments containing counterarguments…including mine. Twice.

Paul’s argument is critical of the assumption that tax money should pay for what he believes to be a largely avoidable condition, though stating AIDS patients are indeed “victims.”

“The individual suffering from AIDS certainly is a victim — frequently a victim of his own lifestyle — but this same individual victimizes innocent citizens by forcing them [through taxation] to pay for his care.” says Paul.
